Sweet Adeline of the Year 2026

Awarded to Carlee Hay

Carlee has been an asset to our chorus from the day she started in the bass section, recently transitioning to the Bari Section. She is diligent in learning her part and welcomely receives feedback to continually improve her sound.

Not long after joining Hot Ginger, Carlee volunteered her expertise to the Management Team where she took on not one, but two roles as Marketing AND Events Coordinator. Carlee has gone above and beyond in sourcing opportunities to promote our chorus always with the success of the chorus in mind. Carlee’s interaction with members of the community when sourcing these opportunities does not go un-noticed as we always received such lovely feedback from community members she communicates with.

Carlee is a huge asset to Hot Ginger and demonstrates all the positive qualities of a Sweet Adeline. She has continued to soldier on despite some difficult times. She is always gracious and humble and is a thoughtful and caring person. She is positive ‘can do’ attitude.

Awarded to Christine Smith

Christine has taken to the Team Coordinator role like a duck to water and does so much for the chorus. She is knowledgeable, reliable and most deserving of this year’s Hot Ginger Chorus Sweet Adeline Of The Year.

She has been a great asset to the chorus over this last year.

She has given her time to the chorus and has been encouraging of others along the way.

She is always at rehearsals and very rarely misses a sing out. Her fun and vibrant personality is a joy to be around, and she never misses an opportunity to promote the chorus and Sweet Adelines.

We hope others can see what a great member she is.

Sweet Adeline of the Year 2023

Awarded to Kas Sommers

Meet our Sweet Adeline Of The Year, Kas Sommers. What a deserving recipient of this prestigious award! Kas is our Assistant Musical Director, a Section Leader, our web master, quartet award winner, and a strong, long -time advocate of barbershop singing. She has a beautiful singing voice, and a heart of gold. Kas, you were the right choice for our SAOTY in 2023. Congratulations!

Sweet Adeline of the Year 2022

Awarded to Narelle Greentree

Narelle Greentree is one of our most active and participatory members. For years she has done quiet things in the background as well as in an official role. Many times she has put up her hand for the more time-consuming or awkward tasks.

Narelle served on the Management Team in 2016, looking after fund-raising and applying for grants. In 2017 she attended Music Team meetings and became the Events Coordinator in 2018 and was on the Concert Committee in 2019.

Narelle was Deputy Team Coordinator in 2020 and 2021, and was elected unanimously as Team Coordinator for 2022.

At all times, Narelle conducts herself in an elegant and calm manner. Her beautiful voice is an asset to the Lead Section. Nothing ever seems to be too much trouble and she never complains, but gets on with the job at hand, whether it is clearing out the store-room, searching (eternally) for new rehearsal venues or opening her home for section practices, in addition to her official duties.

We are proud to have Narelle as Sweet Adeline of the Year for 2022 for Hot Ginger Chorus. She is a wonderful representative of the chorus and of Sweet Adelines.

Congratulations to our amazing singing sister Nicky, recently awarded as a Sweet Adeline of the year. Thank you Nicky for everything you contribute to the chorus both as a vocalist and management & music team member.
