Hot Ginger Chorus wish Sunshine Coast residents and visitors a very Merry Christmas and invite you to attend the following seasonal events, their last performances for 2010. Hot Ginger will be performing each day from 11am to 1pm at various locations throughout the Kawana Shopping World on Thursday 16th, Saturday 18th, Monday 20th and Wednesday 22nd of December. Be entertained while you shop as the ladies sing in four-part harmony to some of our favourite Christmas Carols. It has been a busy year for the chorus who have welcomed a number of new members, learned numerous new songs and performed at a variety of community events including its own gala concert. The chorus will soon take a break for a few weeks, returning to prepare for Australia Day celebrations on the Buderim Mountain School Oval on Wednesday 26th January.

Hot Ginger Chorus was proud to perform at a recent Citizenship Ceremony held in Nambour. It was a large ceremony with over 450 people in attendance. The officials at the ceremony were Cr Bob Abbot Mayor of the Sunshine Coast Council and Master of Ceremonies Jocelyn Kwaczynski. I Am Australian, True Blue and Never Never were some of the songs sung by Hot Ginger to add a special touch to this important occasion when we welcome people from many other nationalities and backgrounds to become citizens of Australia. The ladies of the chorus helped to make this a memorable day for those that became citizens and their supporters. Hot Ginger is a chorus for women who enjoy singing in four-part a cappella harmony. They are now gearing up for the Chistmas festive season and will be carolling about the Sunshine Coast.

Our bags are packed and the count down is on towards the inaugural Hot Ginger Retreat at the Noosa North Shore Resort next weekend. 28 ladies will be enjoying the opportunity to spend some time together in a social and relaxing environment and winding down after the effort and excitement of the annual concert. The focus will be on fun and fellowship and getting to know each other a little better. There will still be plenty of time for singing, though this time it is more likely to be poolside and at the beach.

It was a full house at the Lake Kawana Community Centre on Saturday night for Hot Ginger's Puttin' on the Glitz concert. It might have been windy and raining outside, but those inside were rewarded with a colourful and harmony filled concert. Hot Ginger performed its new repertoire for the audience which included Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen and That Cat is High. Old favourites like Its Raining Men also got the crowd going, with some men from the audience joining the Chorus onstage for a hilarious encore. Hot Ginger was joined by special guest artist Alison St Ledger and students from the Goodwin Vocal Academy with Rosanna Natoli from Seven Local News as compare. With four costume changes and around fifteen songs sung in a cappella harmony, the ladies relished the opportunity to perform to its many supporters.

A small balanced group of Chorus Members sang for the Caloundra Inner Wheel club at the Rustic Cabin, to a most appreciative audience. Perhaps we shall see some of their familiar faces at our annual concert on the 9th of October?

Local quartet, Quintessence recently represented the Sunshine Coast at the annual Australian Regional, Sweet Adelines convention held in Mandurah, Western Australia. The former Senior Sunshine Coast Superstar winners sang beautifully and the comments from the audience were all positive with people amused by their humour, appreciating their sound and loving their costumes. It was their first time competing at the national barbershop competition and they were strong performers in a field of 27 other quartets which was watched by 720 other delegates attending the competition. Quintessence members Veronika Liljeqvist, Carole Locke, Wendy Whelan and Wendy West are all members of local Sunshine Coast Chorus, Hot Ginger. While the chorus was not competing this year, several members traveled to Mandurah to support the quartet and take part in the four days of quartet and chorus competition plus music education.
